Welcome to The Well Tempered Dachshund, a small, home-based breeding program in North Reading, Massachusetts, founded by Danielle Kunis

Our dachshunds are first and foremost beloved members of our family. They share our home, our routines, and our everyday adventures, allowing each puppy to be raised with constant love, attention, and socialization. We believe that a puppy’s earliest experiences shape the confident, affectionate companion they will become.

As a professional oboe player, music has always been an important part of my life. The name The Well Tempered Dachshund reflects that passion, while my career also provides a unique advantage for our puppies. The many hours spent at home practicing, teaching, and making oboe reeds mean that someone is with our dogs and puppies throughout the day. They are raised in an active household where they experience the normal rhythms and sounds of daily life, helping them develop into confident, well-socialized companions.

Our goal is to preserve the wonderful qualities that make dachshunds such cherished companions—their intelligence, loyalty, playful spirit, and deep devotion to their families. We are committed to thoughtful breeding practices and raising puppies in a nurturing home environment where they are handled daily and given the best possible start in life.

We take great pride in matching our puppies with loving homes and remain a resource for our families long after they bring their new companion home. We believe that bringing a dachshund into your life is the beginning of a lifelong relationship, and we are honored to be part of that journey.
